Many ways to lower your risk of cancer

  1. Get your vitamin C every day. At least 1,000 mg. It kills a strain of H.pylori bacteria which causes peptic ulcers which leads to stomach cancer.
  2. Get some sun every few days. Those who get their vitamin D protect themselves from several types of cancer.
  3. Broccoli helps ward off ovarian, stomach, lung, bladder and colorectal cancers. Steaming it for a few minutes enhances the compound sulforaphane which tends to halt the growth of breast cancer cells.
  4. Coffee helps. Drink a few cups of decaf coffee daily. Studies have shown it lowers the risk of rectal cancer by over 50%. It is believed that the increase of bowel movements is responsible.
  5. Keep your @$$ out of the refrigerator. Overweight people are much more likely to develop cancer.
  6. Bananas are great. Sweedish researchers found that thise who ate 4-6 bananas weekly reduced their risk of kidney cancer over 50%. Knawing on root vegetables like carrots did the same.
  7. Get help in examining every inch of your body for possible changes in the size or colour of moles. These can spell Melanoma which is frequently fatal if not discovered early. A good reason to get naked with a friend. Check your nails. Grey/black discoloration or a distorted or elevated nail may indicate the disease.
  8. Pay close attention to unusual pain like a bloated belly, pelvic pain, and an urgent need to urinate. These signals may signal ovarian cancer. Women and doctors frequently ignore these signs, and that is the reason it is so deadly. When caught early, before it has metastisized, the cure rate is 80-90%.
  9. Get calcium every day. Those who took calcium daily for four years had a 36% reduction in new precancerous polyps five years after the study ended. Non-fat milk is a great source. I prefer the powdered product. It is cheaper and can be made as needed. Tastes great as well.
  10. Get off the sofa for 15 minuted daily for a light workout. Just enough to break a sweat will reduce levels of androgens and estrogen, two things that can protect women against ovarian, breast and endometrial cancer.
  11. Lung cancer is well known as a primary hazard of smoking. Also, everything ther smoke passes on its way to the lungs can also turn cancerous. Smokers are encouraging stomach, liver, prostate,colorectal, cervical and breast cancers. Avoid all smoke filled environments.
  12. White bread is dangerous. Anything which a high glycemic load--a measure of how fast food raises the blood sugar causes a higher rick of colorectal cancer.
  13. If over 50, get a colonoscopy every several years. Do NOT rely on a hemocult, a quick screen for blood in the feces. It misses 90% of potential colorectal cancers.
  14. If all over 50 get a colonoscopy every two years, colorectal cancer would be almost wiped out.
  15. Garlic is famous for keeping vampires away. It is also a cancer-fighting food. Heating it destroys 90% of the activity of allinase, the enzyme that helps form the cancer fighting compound. If you must cook it, after chopping it, let it stand for 10-15 minutes, then cook it.
  16. Red fruits(watermelon, tomato, pink grapefruit) are loaded with lycopene, a proven cancer fighter.
  17. Dump the dogs! In fact, all processed meats like sausage, etc. are bad. Eating a hotdog daily increases your chance of pancreatic cancer, which is almost always fatal.
